Trustees, Universities, Think Tanks and Companies
Been a manically bust couple of weeks
So here’s a big update on where things have got to. I’ll break things down into the workstreams I am using currently using to structure my work
Governance
Our Tomorrow Trustees
I’m super stoked to have such high caliber founding Trustees on board.
Not only does that enable me to start getting us registered properly as an organisation and a charity - but it also is paying dividends already in terms of connections and opening doors.
Thanks Helmut, Jason, Mark and Jo - you’re all awesome
Technology build out
Both Deloitte and TeamIM have indicated they may be willing to help me build the technology we’ll need to undertake all our polling and join Kiwi’s together in conversation.
We’ll be meeting soon to plan the Tech stack in some more detail - and start to figure out if both are able to commit in in terms of time and resources it will need.
So - a long way to go - and the partnerships may not ultimately work for either party - but I think its really indicitive of the willingness of NZ business ot step up and play their part in helping Kiwis find long term solutions to our buggest challenges.
Thanks hugely to both - and let’s see what our future holds.
Separately - Deloitte have already committed to supporting Our Tomorrow with our strategy and planning through their Good Thinking initiative that supports charities and community groups across the country. Nga mihi nui to you Steph.
Policy and Analytics build out
All these organisations are looking at how they can support Our Tomorrow
Koi Tū Centre for Informed Futures - is exploring how they can assist in making sure the policies we test with the public have been neutrally expressed and rigourously assessed
BERL - are looking to see if their Deputy Chief Economist might join our Advisory Panel for Economics - as are the Chief Economists Shamubeel Eaqub of Helen Clark Foundation and Eric Crampton of the New Zealand Initiative - making sure that what we say in this space can be not just expressed neutrally - but additionally done in a way that respects the main political traditions and how they see these issues. While Our Tomorrow is strictly non-partisan, we want to make sure we acknowledge the political prisms through which the vast majority of New Zealanders see things - and do it in a way that carefully balances everyone’s different perspectives
NZ Election Study in the form of Professor Jack Vowels is exploring Our Tomorrow linking formally with the University of Victoria and the NZES study - so we can advance understanding of the things that make Kiwis tick when they choose our political leaders.
That’s it for now peeps - as ever if you are interested in helping Our Tomorrow to find ways to bring Kiwis together for our future- reach out to paul.comer@ourtomorrow.nz
